A one-day conference offered by the Voyagers.
Wednesday, March 18, 2026; 9:00-3:30
Siena Retreat Center, 5637 Erie St., Racine, WI 53402.
Pastoral care is one of the core responsibilities and privileges of ministry. You are invited to join the Voyagers in a day of sharing, thinking and learning as we consider pastoral care through the lens of Bowen Family Systems Theory.
The Voyagers is a multi-denominational group of clergy and faith leaders who have been meeting for over 25 years to discuss Bowen theory, the application of the theory to congregations and leadership, and to work on our own differentiation of self. We draw heavily on the work of Rabbi Edwin Friedman.
The following questions and situations will shape discussion:
- What is pastoral care? How does it look through the lens of Bowen theory?
- What is challenging about pastoral care? What is life-giving?
- Does a family systems lens offer new insights into aging and care?.
- What does a family systems perspective offer to our thinking about funerals?
We begin at 9:00 a.m. and finish at 3:30 p.m.
The cost of the day is $60, which includes lunch and snacks. (You can indicate food restrictions during registration.). Please register here.
You have the option of sending a check or bringing it to the event. However, in order to be included in the lunch order, you must register before March 1, 2026. Thank you.
