The Voyagers return to The Lutheran Center in Chicago for our fall meeting: Tuesday, October 22 – Friday, October 25.
This will be an interesting meeting. The focus is on racism, and what is seen when considered from the perspective of Bowen Theory.
- We will begin on Tuesday with the sociological facts (Damon Laker), then move to a biological view of humans and differences (David Goodine).
- On Wednesday morning, Dr. Walter Smith will join us via Zoom. (You may wish to check out a presentation he offered in Vermont in 2020: The Challenge of Seeing Beyond the Symptom Toward a Bowen Theory View of Racism.
- On Wednesday afternoon Larry Pickens will present thinking around reparations and multigenerational emotional process. The afternoon will include a video on reparations.
- Thursday morning, Ed Henley will lead us in ‘pulling it all together.’ My hope is that our study of Bowen Theory around the realities of racism will generate thinking about how we can take this back into congregations.
In addition, we will have family of origin groups, time for case studies, and our traditional “Voyagers’ Night Out.”
Lodging is at the Springhill Suites, Chicago O’Hare. The registration fee for the meeting is $300.
